SECOND DEMONSTRATION CONCERT.
. The second demonstration concert, given in the Theatre Boyal last. night by successful competitors in. the Christchurch .Competitions, attracted another large and enthusiastic audience. The programme was as follows: —Piano duet, "Jttadiant," Hisses J. Cusack and Mackie; recitation, "When Burglars Come," Master A. Handisides; girl'a song, "Snowflakes," Hiss Barbara Harma; recitation in character, "Charley Bates,' Master Bert Goodlands; violin solo, ".Nocturne," No. 3, Miaß Mollis McDonald; piano solo, "Asphodel," Hiss Mary Stone; eong, "Scenes that a<re Brightest," Miss Colleen Costello; humorous xecitation, "The Weather Fiend," Master Philip Munn; duet in character, "Take a Bide With He," ~.iss Vanda' Duncan and Master Norman "Weßt;' monologue, - "Lorraine, Lorrime, Lorree," Miss Dorothy Naumann; piano eolo, uq. Begata Veneziana," Hiss Lucy I'ulwood; church choir, anthem and hymn, St. Albans Choir; Dominion recitation, "Guards Came Through," Mr G. Smythe: piano duet, "Italy," Misses Cartwright and Baikie; .oratorical display, 'Lloyd George," Mr J. Voss; baBS song, "xJlow, Blow," Mr T. D. Williams; Shakespearean recitation,, "Hecata," Hiss Olive Thomas; English song,. "Arrow and the Song," Miss, Marjorie nelson; character recital, "Ophelia," Mrs Isabel Halligan; piano solo, ■ "Fantasie Im-. promptu," Miss Nettie Pur die; song in character, "The Sundowner," Hiss Vanda Duncan; vocal trio, "Lift Thine; Eyes," Misses' Ford; Lawrence, and Williams; eons; for girls, "Days of Joy," Hiss M. Elderton; humorous recitation, "Mrs 'Aria," Miss Naare Hooper; V-cal duet, "Flow Gently Diva," Messrs Bogers and Williams; operatic eolo, "My Heart is Weary," Miss M. Fisher; Shakespearean recitation, "Jacpiee," Mr G. Smythe; Scotch song, "Within-a Mile," Miss Mi Kicolr piano solo, "Hexantana," Miss Gwitha Young, For the. final ..demonstration concert tonight a .splendid programme has been arranged, including chiidren'a items, -two quartets, an instrumental trio, and various other numbers. During tho evening the presentation of champion medals ami shields will be made. '
In the solo competition for lady or gentleman, the result of which was published yesterday, it was Mr A. J. Bate who played the obligato for- Miss L. Pegg, of Linwood, the winner of the second prize, not Hiss J. N. Bate.
