CLAIMS OF REFUGEES. DEMAND FOB COMPENSATION. (Bj- Cabki — Press Associ»tion—{Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received May 9th, 8.15 p.m.) LONDON, May 8. A meeting of members of the House of Commons received a deputation of sixty men and women, representing refugees from Southern Ireland who had been forced to leave their homes. They detailed their experiences. Tho meeting passed a resolution that, "As the stories of refugees have showed that many murders are being committed, and a wholesale system of robbery and expropriation being enforced by the terrorism which prevails in many parts of Southern Ireland, this meeting urges the Government to pay compensation to the sufferers." Lord Shaw of Dunfermline (who was chairman of the Royal Commission on the Dublin riots in 191*4) has been appointed chairman of the commission for adjudicating on private claims for damage to property against the Irish Freo State. A FREE TIGHT. LONDON, May 8. Republicans attacked the houses of three loyalists at Castle Caulfield. A vigorous fight ensued. One man on each side was killed.
