WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.

The 'monthly meeting of the Walmakariri Harbour Board was held at Kaiapo, yestefdav. Present-Messrs L. B. Evans (chairman), D. Hawke, T. E. Keetley, T. R. Sd,D. R. Hutchison T Stevenson, M. The object of the Bill would be to eliminate tne following areas: Borough; of Rangiora, tne Rangiora County, the Oxford County, the Ashley Countv, the Kowai County, the Waipara- County, the Amur! County, and -the Cneviot County. Notice was given to the. Board not to borrow any. moneys until the provisions of. the proposed Bill were dealt with by Parliament at the coming session. It was decided to repy'.that the -Board could not recognise the rights of the writers clients to give notice not to borrow any moneys. ■-"'■; ... The chairman stated that the letter was the outcome of the meeting held in Rangiora, at which the Minister of Marine was present, and as there;was apparently eorne misunderstanding among ratepayers as to the procedure in bringing the Harbdur Bill before Parliament, he made the following report:—"The extension of the Harbour District was brought about .through a motion passed at a meeting of the Waipara County Council, asking the then chairman to call a meeting of vail-local bodies concerned. -. .The meeting ; was called and held in Kaiapoi on Juno 22nd,.:i980, end all counties anjT boroughs' interested .were represented.
