PROTESTS AGAINST BOSS'S EXECUTION.

Shoals of letters have been received by the AtTorney-General protesting against the hanging of Colin Campbell Ross. One letter is alleged to be from "the wife of tflie real murderer," • who alleges she knows her husband committed the crime .and will "bring him up to scratch" in a few days. One old man, 75 years of age, visited the gaol and offered himself as a sacrifice for Ross. He quoted the Bible, and said it would be a beautiful death, to die for another. He exp.essed great disappointment when his offer was net entertained.
[Ross is to be hanged to-day for the murder of Alma Tirtschke.]
