AKABOA CLUB,

The Akaroa Bowling Club will close its season on Thursday next, when tho president, Mr W. W. Williams, will present the trophies won in the club tournaments. Tho season has been very successful throughout, the number of visitors being larger than usual.

DTJJSTEDIN, April 23. The bowling tournament, which, was commenced at Easter, was continued yesterday, lml raini prevented its completion. In the Provincial Doubles, the final was won by Higby and Tonkin (North-East Valley), who defeated Oormaek and T. Sanders in the :nnaJ by 17 points to ' .The final of the. City Doubles resulted in a win for Stark and Robertson (St. Kilda), who defeated Currie and Mackie (Taieri), by 20 points to 18. The finals of the Rinks, Provincial and City, will be played on Thursday.

There was a good deal of excitement in the bowling tournament at Palmerston j\ T orth towards the end of the final between Newtown (Cobb, Ferguson, Stewart, J. TSrackenridge, sen., skip) and Manawotu (Corhidge, Brown, Radford, Bpooner, skip) on Tuesday last. The last head was begun with tho rinks: Manawatu, 16; Newtown. 14. Radford drew the shot with his last howl, and Ferguson drew a good second. 'Stewart tried a difficult shot to give Brac'kcnridge three shots at least, but missed very badly. Spooner tried to block, but went wide. Brackemidge was also wide with his first. Spooner did not disturb -the situation. With hia last bowl the veteran Newtown skip eaw his chance to avert defeat. With a magnificent fast shot he rah into.the head, took out Spooner's lying bowl without disturbing the kitty, ami scored three. This Rave him a well-earned win, the game ending 17-16. This is said to be the most sensational fmißh to. a tournament game ever witnessed in Palmerston North.
