At the monthly meeting of the AkaToa- ' "Wainui Eoad Board there were present— Messrs Geo. Armstrong (chairman), S. J. < Vogan, E. A. Mould, P. Cunningham, and T. Maeefield. I The formal resolution covering: arrange- j merits with the bank for an overdraft of | £1650 was carried In connexion with the Board's antecedent liability, amounting to £656 Ca 9d, it was ; decided to pay it off in seven years, in seven j equal instalments. Mr Vogan. referred to the unsatisfactory state of Pawson's Valley bridge. It was decided that Messi"? Vogan and Cunningham be empowered to arrange at once for temporary repairsMr Masefield said that the matter of laying water on thp Long Bay road reserve had not yet been, completed. After the clerk had mpde a.etatement in respect thereto, it was 'resolved that the Board's solicitors be instructed to proceed forthwith with the drawing up of the easement with Mr Henry Le Lievre. The nuance Teport showed: —Dr. balance March 31st £538 7s 9d. rates outstanding £15:1 183 2d, dr. balance transferred April Ist to antecedent liability account £656 03 9d, general account cr. £lsl 3® 2d, accounts for payI ment £ls 5s 2d. | It being the last meeting of the present i Board, the chairman took the opportunity of thanking members for their loyal support and co-operation throughout the year. He ■ had served 16 years on the Board, and did : not intend to seek Te-elcction. He paid a i tribute to the clerk, Mr G. H. O'Callaghan, whose work deserved the highest commenda- • Members joined in. expressing the wannest ! appreciation of Mr Armstrong's splendid ! services to the district, and keenly, regretted that advancing years compelled him to re- : tire from a position he had filled with satisfaction to all.
