METROPOLITAN TROTTING CLUB.

EASTER MEETING. The Now Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club will open its Easter meeting 4©»day, and conclude it on Wednesday. Daring the two days the club will distribute £7900 in stakes. The principal race each day is endowed with £IOOO, while there is no race on the programme i worth less than £3OO. The fixture is the last of the 1921-22 season to be held at Addington, and the rich stakes hanro been the means of attracting horses from most parts of the Dominion, and as far distant as Australia, and the presence of the visiting contingent should' .contribute largely towards its successs. During the past week there has been some interesting work at headquarters, the trackf is in first-class order, and with fine weather, it is quite on the cards that, there will be further horses qualifying for the coming New Zealand Trotting Cup. The fields are large, and there is little doubt that the contests for supremacy will be _ keen, and the adjustments of the handicapper (Mr H; Brinkman) have set the public a difficult task in selecting the various horses possibilities. The principal race on ihe card, the Easter Handicap, has drawn a high-class field'of twelve j horses, including Man o' War, a dual winner of the Auckland Trotting Cup, Willie Lincon, holder of the winning jnfle record, 2m. 10s.; the speedy Waimate trained pair Tatsy Dillon and ' Vilo, also the Auckland-trained trio Oruarang,i Gold Girl and Comedy Chief. Hie issue is open, but a useful pair are j Oruarapgi and Vilo, while Agathos has only to reproduce his track form' to fin- , ish in the money. A select field of six- .■■■" leen unhoptiled trotters stand their ground, in the Autumn Handicap. First JVshion, trained by the ex-Melbourne trainer J. J. Kennerley, is one of the conroetitors, and should race well, but . jig likely to. be kept bnsy by Peter Jackson and Merry Bingen, a pair of young improving trotters. The first race will start at 11.60 a.m; and a special tram service will run at frequent intervals - during 1 the day.
