The population of New South Wales at the end of 1921 was 2,128,786 (of whom 1,084,759 are males) »a increase of 36,441. Of this increase 34,600 represented the excess of births over deaths and 1841 the excess of arrival* over departures. The marriages totalled 18,518, which was 9£ per cent, above the average for the previous five years. The total births were 54,634, which was 1 2-5 per cent, below the average for the,previous five years.' The deaths totalled 20,034, which was 10 3-10 per cent, below the average for the same period.
