The Hull Chamber of Commerce tendered ii banquet to the Hon. H. N. Barwell, Premier of South Australia. Mr Barwell, in a speech, referred to tho Commonwealth Government running lines of steamers, and said he believed in private ownership and control. Government control was foredoomed to failure.
Australia, like England, was passing through trying times. The Australian working-men were being led by Bolshevik extremists, who were responsible for class hatred between Capital and Labour, and tiie consequent unemployment which was holding Australia back. They must get down to a proper economic basis. What was wanted in Ausralia was lower wages.
