An exceflerit budget of pictures make u the illustrated section of the "Weekly Press" which will be on sale to-day. The New Zealand Rowing Championships, at Wanganui, have a full page of uncommonly good photographs, and for sportsmen tiber. is also a page of snapshots of the papier Park Races and pictures of the Initer-Island Cricket Match at Lancaster Park. Two panoramas of Dunedin's favourite watering place,. St, Clair, will attract attention by their beauty. The disastrous fire in Wellington, which destroyed el eye n houses is depicted, and there are numerous other interesting subjects, including wireless Telephony, which has been brought into prominence by messages received: at New, Brighton from Australia. The pictures shew senders and recipients of the wireless ooncert. The letterpress section, is as usual, replete' with interesting items. Among the short stories are "On the Road to the Wedding)" % J- Teignmouth Shore; "A Burned Steak/' by E,, E. Harriraan; and "Love Powders and Dragon's Blood," by Bobert Mcßlair. • Nobody should miss reading "A Great Surgeon on Happiness," while th« story of the Chancery suit in which Jumbo, the famous elephant figured as the hero, will please all readers. The Defence Department has. recently introduced Command Rifle Meetings as a means of inciting emulation among Cadets and Territorials to perfect themselves in Musketry, and a full account of the first, the Central Command meeting, at Trentham, appears in Defence Notes. Chief among the Scientific articles is "Shags," by R. S. Sutherland, and in Health Notes appears some valuable advice on the care of the eyes.
