THE PICTURES. A For sporting drama, "Chequer#," ie ft special attraction at the Harbour Light Theatre to-night. A fine supporting programme, including a Sunshine comedy, Fox New#, and a cartoon will also be ecre«ned. On Friday th» Stoll (British) production, ""God's Good Man," from the novel by Marie Corelli, will be shown. FOOTBALL. . There was an attendance of about thirty members at the general meeting of tho newly formed Lyttelton Football Club «t tho C.iub Hall last evening, the president, Mi hj, fa. Henderson, occupying the chair. In h'.s opening remarks tho chairman fiaid he xegrotted that there was not a bigger attendonco of members. Thay might, at least, at; tend and encouruge those who intend«sd playing during the coming; season. In consenting to take tho office of president of the club he wished to state emphatically that there must bo an end of rowdyism, at matches played by the club, by that section of "bairackcrs which had given Lyttelton footballer* a bad namo in the past. If this waa not put down ho would have nothing to do with the club. He admitted that tho "barracking" had not been, so bad during tho past two seasons, but ha wished to eee a further improvement. There were plenty of players in the port. If they would only join up he could guarantee that every financial support would be accorded' by those interested in the club.' Mr W. "W. Toy, club captain, eaid ho li«d called the previous meeting and had spent much time iu canvassing prospective iplavers. In many crises# these were uncertain whether tliey would play or not. He waa eorrv to see such a small attendance; ha exoactcd at lenst . one hundred to he present. Most of those present ware President's players. If Lytteltou players did not niaVo an effort this year he was afraid it vould bo tho finish of football in the port. After further discussion Captain Sillar* moved that tho Rugby Union be written to, asking them to receive -".n entry of a senior team from Lyttelton for the coming and that Mr W. Toy wait on the Urion to explain tho position in which the Lyttelton Club was placed as regards playeri. Tha motion was carried unanimously. Tt was decided that the meeting adjourn till the night following tie Rugby Union Meeting.
