WATER SUPPLY BOARD.
WAIMAKABISI-ASHLEY. The members of Ashley Water Supply Board' made their annual inspection of the head works at Brown's Bock on Thursday, when a very enjoyable, and instructive day was spent. All the members of the Boardwere present, with the exception of Mr G. F. Wayland, who was unfortunatly laid ,up With a bad cold. # \' , The chief object of the visit to Brown's Rook thfe year, was to decide upon a soheme for protecting' the headworks from the Waimstfeariri river which is encroaching in some places. It wis decided;? tfeat yexijenaiv;® ing should be'done that being unanimously agreed as tfher: most satisfactory method of protoefmg the wjrks. The Board was particularly fortunate in having Mr . Wjrffie (chairman of the Ashley County Council) with them, as he waa able to give them valuable advice on' the ■ subject. Messrs R. F." Henderson (chairman of the Oxford County Council) and J. Marshall {Clerk: to the Rangiora Council) were also present, and took a great interest inj! the works? protective' scheme. Messrs Wyllie, Marshallnnd Henderson speaking on behalf- of; ; the'yiatoria.; referred'to the valuable -worfc' that had been done by the Board and were quite pure they would carry out successfully ihe scheme for further protection of ihs race, which they considered to bo moat neoeesary. •* Lunch was prtxvided by 'the-lady visfc. tors and was greatly appreciated.
