JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.
HO-CONFIDENGE MOTION DEFEATED. (By Cablo—Proas Association— Copyright.) (Australian end N.Z. Cablo Association.) (Received March 19th, 5.5 p.m.) TOKYO, March 18. A resolution introduced by the Opposition expressing lack of confidence in the Government was defeated, the Government receiving a majority of one hundred votes.
Thera is considerable fear caused by ,the attempts of political assassins following yesterday's premature bomb explosion. Bitter Opposition attacks against the Government, in tjje Diet have caused widespread unrest. Prince Saionji, who is ill in Tokyo, lias received a series of letters stating that unless he dies of sickness he will be assassinated when he leaves the house, regardless of the number of his guards. Viscount Kyoura, President of the Privy Council, has also been threatened. (Received March 18th, 5.5 p.m.) TOKYO, March 18. An unidentified man carrying a bomb attempted to enter the Imperial palace grounds, but was halted by the guard. While endeavouring to throw the bomb at the guard the man blew himself to pieces.
