A tost of business acumen was forthcoming at a marine suburb of Auckland between a Chinese greengrocer and a Japanese sailor. The keen little Jap (according to the "Star") selected quito a lot of vegetables, and when they were gatheied together ho asked the Chinaman the price for the lot. "Two bob," replied tiie Chinaman. "Two bob, too much. If I went to your country they would give me a whole bag full for that amount," said the Jap. "If you were in your awn country you might get two Backs full," came a quick and prompt response. "You are not in Japan nowj anil I'm not in China. We have to do things like the Europeans now, and it 1 charged Europeans less than 'two bob for the vegetables you have selected they would want to know ,™ s * matter with them, and why theywere bo cheap!"
