The first attack on the Pour Power Pacific Treaty from the group of Senators who followed Mr VVoodrow Wilson in his fight for the League of Nations and the Treaty of Versailles was launched to-day, when Senator Joe T. Robinson, of Arkansas, denounced the Treaty afi a "Defensive Alliance." He declared It was singular the# oil domestic controversies wei'e excluded from the provisions. "We know, 1 ' he said, "that the real trouble in the past between the United States and Japan has arisen out of three matters, namely, immigration, race equality, and Japanese lights in land ownership in America; yet the Treaty does not provide a settlement of tnese causes of conflict."

Senator Robinson declared that the Treaty was dictated by SIi L . Balfour •with the full sanction of the Japanese delegation. Senator llobinson asked Senators Lodge and Underwood to inform the Senate who the real author of the Treaty was. .Both Senators admitted they were unablo to answer that question. Senator Lodge* said he underatood the Treaty was the joint work of the heads of the four delegations who negotiated the pact. Seuator Robinson said: ''There is no doubt in my mind that Britain and Japan will construe the Treaty as a substitute for the Anglo-Japanese Alliance."

Senator J. A. Reed (Democrat) declared: "This Treaty is the product of British diplomacy aid Japanese cunning, and the pawn is the United States." '
