SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
The monthly - ceilidh of the Scottish So-ciety-was held in their rooms, Manchester street, on Thursday, v when a large assemblage of members' families and friends gntherca. Chief John L. Aitken cordial.v welcomed the large audience, and stated that as it was a childien's ceilidh the various items would be furnished by the children of the Society. Piper S. E. Smith opened with a selection on the war pipes. The following items were contributed: —Piano eolo, Miss A. Gilfason; piano duet, Mm G. Brackenridge and Master Co"le; songs by Miss Kathleen Chappie; recitation by- Miss Brackenridge; dances, fling, Mioses Moore and Larcombe; seaun triubhais, Miss. T. Buist; hornjjipe. Miss D. Marshall; clog dance, Miss N. Smith; Highland reel and , reel of Tulloch bv members of the juvenile dancing class. 'Auld Lang Syne" brought, a very enjoyable function to a close. The accompanist was Mrs E. A. Smith.
