ROYAL MUSICAL SOCIETY.

At a meeting of the executive of the Royal Christchurch Musical Society, Mr Sydney Butler, L.R.A.M., A.R.C.0., was appointed conductor up to and including the fiist concert, when Gounod's "faust" will be presented. '

The appointment of a director was again held over. Offers by several of the executive to share the burden of the work were made, provided Mr Owen would continue to direct the Society's affairs. Another meeting will be held on Thursday evening next. Mr \V. J. Hunter was elected a member of the executive, and Mrs Russell was appointed hon. accompaniste.
