WELLINGTON, March 9. The railway working account for the period April Ist, 1921, to February 4th, 1922, discloses that the total revenue from all lines in the Dominion amounted to £5,506,209, and the expenditure to £5,336,429, the credit balance being £230 780 The revenue from the North Island lines was £3,375,727, end the expenditure £2,982,986, leaving a credit eurplus of £392,741. , ~ A loss, however, was shown on too South Island lines of £161,961, the expenditure being £2,352,443, and the revenue £2,190,482. A comparative statement of the tramc on all sections for the corresponding period of tho previous year dhows a decrease of 090,174 (12,745,253 to 12,055,079) in the total number of passengers carried, but an increase of 6047 (386,078 to 392,665) in the number of season tickets issued. . The goods traffic returns for the same period Bhow a decrease of 84,729 in the number of cattle oarried, increases of 134,259 and 33,069 respectively in the number of sheep and pigs, decreases of 2173 tons in timber, 41,266 tons in. minerals, and 154,404 tons in other goods, malting a total decrease or 197,843 tons.
