FIJI SUGAR WORKERS.
(PBE9S ASSOCIATION TEUtGSuM.) AUCKLAND, March 3. Sir Maynard Hedstrom, a passenger to Sydney by the Makura, states that the reduction of wages by the Sugafr Company had been only two days in operation when he left Suva, and ho could not say how the Indians were accepting the position. He did not expect active opposition. The question was whether they would adapt themselves to the new conditions or apply m large numbers to be repatriated. "He was not pessimistic about the future of Fiji, which is full of possibilities, but it would take a year or so before matters were back to normal.
