An experiment of interest to busy people working in a city, who find it almost impossible to get any active exercise during tlie short winter days, has been made on a confident scale at ftceliampton (England).' l<"crur tennis-courts in the open-air have been fitted for artificial lighting. The result, according to a tennis expert of European reputation. is excellent. A soft light without. shadows has been obtained. The cost' of current for three courts side by side is only Is 9d per hour. The inventor has also a vapour light for the use where electric current is not available.
