ARMS FOR TURKEY.

A BEMABKABIE STORY.

(By Cable—Press Association— Copyright.) 'TJnited S»rvioe. v (Received March 3rd, 12.80 a.m.) LONDON, March 1.

• The Berlin correspondent of the ."Daily Mail" relates a remarkably daring Turkish plot to send out to Mußtapha Kemal Pasha, German airmen and aeroplanes' arid other war material, which was foiled at the eleventh hour by the Danish authorities. The story opens in Trieste,' where the plotters chartered the steamer llosandria to convey contraband of war from Germany to Denmark. Colonel Melunod Mouri, working in Berlin, engaged ex-German qffioers for the enterprise, including' a former submarine officer, Captain Angennann, to take command. In the meantime the Turkish agents signed up thirty expert German airmen for a year's service }n the Turkish Army, at the rate of £SO (Turkish) a month. These men, disguised as fitters on board the llosandria, arrived at Frederica to collect thirty aeroplanes. The suspicions of the Danish authorities were aroused. They boarded the vessel, and the German officers, seeing the tame was up, retired. It was then iseovered that it was also intended to load military motor-cars, rifles, machineguns, aeroplane motors, v and . spare parts. It is noteworthy that Germany is prohibited from making aeroplane motors, and under the Treaty of Versailles is not permitted to export arms.
