IMMIGRANTS FROM CANADA.
(SPrCIAIi TO "THE PRESS.") AUCKLAKD, December 5. Enquiry into the prospects offered by New Zealand to ex-Service mea now in Canada, who wish' to settle on the land, is being made by Captain C. G. F. Wheeler, Rbval Irish Itifles, president of the Imperial Veterans' Association of Canada. Captain Wheeler states that after the war a large numbei of English, Scottish, anilrwusoldieis emigrated to Canada, but many of tliow are dissatislied with the conditions in the latter country «nd aro «ry eager » come to New Zealand , He has the names of over 400«>ldiers who wish M se+tle here, and is making enquiries o» behalf of a large body of men «™kriy desirous of. leaving Canada. J\hep these men decided to, leave Great Britain and Ireland for Canada, he said, they had no idea whatever of the con.ditlorw ttliera; or of the terrible climate, and now they find thai they cannot Btand it. Many of them have capital, and woukl be able to aet out upon enterprises of their own. - , Captain Wheeler will proceed to Wellington this week to interview the Prune Minister upon the matter.
