—, —♦—. — INQUEST. The adjourned inquest touching the death of Charles Edward Norris, 45 years of ago, labourer, of Eitliam, whose body was found on the bank of tho Waimakariri river on November 22nd, was continued before the Coroner, Mr S. E. McCarthy, at the Court on Saturday. George Orossby Lidgett, nephew of deceased gave evidence of identification. The Coroner brought in a verdict that deceased died as th 0 result of a wound in the calf of each leg, together with exposure and loss of blood. There was no evidence to show by whom the wounds were inflicted. A man named McCaw, who resides at Sydenham, mffered a compound fracture of the leg vesterday as the result of a motor accident. While adjusting a pulley in the roof of the Farmers' Co-operative grain store, at Ashburtcn on "Wednesday, John McKay, storeman, fell, striking the concrete floor with his head. He nerver regained consciousness, and died in the hospital on Friday night from hemorrhage of the brain. McKay was a married man with a large family. Flags were flown at halfmast at the merchants' offioes in Ashburton on Saturday as a mark of respect to his memory. (rBSSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) HAWERA, December 3. As the New Plymouth-Wellington express was entering Hawera station this morning Charles R. Stannard, secretary of tbe,Egmont A. and P. Association, fell in front of the engine, and was dragged about a chain. He received severe injuries to his leg and body, and was removed to hospital.
