The second race lor the Cummmgs Memorial Cup was held on Saturday last. At the start a fresh eouth-wester necessitated the competitors reefing down. Out of : the eight boats starting the "Rfarau (J. Hinee) held the lead till the Eeathcole buoy was turned, where the Te Ari (A. Round) gradually overtook her. S«ne little distanoa before the buoy was turned mo3t of the yachts slackened out their reefs. On the lead back to the tripod the Warau shook out her two top reefs and from then onwards the gradually overtook the Te Ari.
