EECHABITE OEDEB. A largely attended meeting ci the Independent Order of R«chabits >ras held in the Hiilipson Tent on Thursday, Sister L. Partridge, P.C.E., being in the chair. Six candidates were initiated, and «ck piy was passed to three brothers. Sister Partridge welcomed Sister Kennedy, District Superintendent of female members, who was paying an official visit to Christchurch. S.ster Kennedy congratulated the officers on the manner in which they conducted the initiation ceremony, and afterwards gave an address dialing with the order from ito commencement right up to the present tims. Bro. C. H. Bascand, Pride of Christchurch T.ent, proposed a hearty vote of tiania to Sister Kennedy for her able address, which was carried by acclamation. After tho business was over a pleasant eocial hour was spent, after which, refreshment® were handed rounu Brothers Purdom, Elham, Ball, and Falloon supplied the music during the evening.
