SUMNER ITEMS.
Social at Bedcliffs. A very enjoyable social evening was held in the Redcliffs Mission room on Tuesday evening, when there was a good attendance. The building was tastefully decorated. for the occasion. JOT address was given by the Rev. E. C. W. Powell, while musical and other items were given by Mrs E. W. Pidgeon, Mr Adley, Miss Barber, Mr G. Stening, Miss E. Le Page, and Miss J. Coleman. Wedding. On Wednesday a quiet wedding was celebrated at All Saints' Church, when Miss G. Wood, daughter of Mr and Mrs E. G. Wood, of tlie Esplanade, was married to Mr G. H. Piercy. The vicar; the Rev. E._ C. W. Powell, officiated, and the service was choral, Mr H. J. Marriner officiating at the organ. Miss D. Wood was bridesmaid, while Mr J. Wood acted as best man. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's parents. Bowling Club. The championship singles and doubles were advanced another stage this week, when the second round was completed with the following results: —Singles: J. Illingworth defeated it. Wallace, F. C. Cooper defeated W. F. R-aphae], W'. Henley defeated G. AY. C. Smithson, W. Newman defeated T. Chambers, H. Barlow defeated C. Forrest, W. J. Hampton defeated E. A. Johnson, T. W. Johnson defeated Dr. Cosset, H. A. Bruce defeated J. H. Thomas, R. Wilcox defeated H. C. Jones. Doubles: H. Barlow and E. A. Johnson (s) defeated R. Wilcox and W. Newman (s). H. Wi'son and CForrest (s) defeated J._Waghorn and F. C. Malpas (s), H. W. Heslcp and W. Henley (s) defeated C. Wricht ami Dr. Gosset (s), W. Mathews and J. H. Thomas (s) defeated H. C. Jones and J. A. Booth (s), H. Gardiner and J. Illingworth (&) defeated J. M. B. Crawford and W. S. Mitchell (s).
