GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL.
TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PMS9." Sir,—l see "by this morning's paper that once more the vexed question of overcrowding at the Girls' High School has cropped up, and v once more the members of the Canterbury College Board of Governors have allowed themselves to be. pacified by the assurance that there is room for all who wish to enter. Then why is it that every year pupils are denied admission on account of lack of room? I believe the lady principal will always admit a girl who intends taking a home science course, but I do not see why preference should be given to them, when our Technical School is so well equipped in that line, even to a residential hostel. It is very disappointing to parents having several daughters to find that the younger ones are not able to .attend the same school as the older ones, and I have known of girls who intended going right on through college who have had to abandon the idea "through failure to gain admission to the Girls' High School;
I hope the Board of Governors will go into the matter thoroughly, and have a . guarantee that all .pupils who gain their proficiency certificates will be admitted, before allowing the matter to be side-tracked once more.— Yours, etc;. AN EX-PUPIL. November 2Stl.
