PIGEON FLYING.

The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club flew a race from Napier last Saturday. Eightythree birds were sent, divided amongst '2l owners. The winner proved to be F. Kingsford's Van Op, which traversed the distance of 366 .miles 1-597 yards air-lino in 11 tours .2 minutes 44 seconds. The following is the velocity recorded by each owner's bird: —F. Kingsford'B Van Op, 974 yds per minute; F. Wilson's No. 67, 971yda per minute; H. Wilson's Lone Star, 970 yds per minute; G. Robertson's Guy Fawkes, 968 yds per minuto; C. Woodhouso's No. 106, 968yde per minute; A. Buckley's No. 441, 049 yds per minute; W. Cummings's No. 357, 912 yds per minute; Sandford and ithodes's Teu Teu, K9oyds per minute; 0. O'Connell'a No. 234, 666 yds per minute; F. Smith's No. 486, «655 yea jrtsr .minute; iL. Wilshire's Mkiohlt, 883 yds per minute; P. Chambers'a No. 630, 879 yds per minute; H. Sellars's No. 923, 877yd3 per minute; H. Duifield's No. 177, 87Syds per minuto; E. Jlahan's No. 887, 867 yds per minute; J. Falooner's No. 203, 810 yds per minute'; J. Bose'e No. 897, £OO yds per minute. F. Kingsford also wins C. Kirkley's special prize, also first leg in the club challenge trophy in connexion with this race.
