In some of the residential quarters of Wanganui the-side-walks are much wider than is necessary for the present foot traffic. The unused portions are sown in grass,, and there lias been created'a friendly rivalry among residents in making the sidewalks beauty spots. They cut the gijass opposite their sections regularly, and cultivate miniature flower gardens. The citizens' efforts are respected, and the blooms are not interfered with. -
