OBITUARY.
The death has occurred, at Ysabel Tsi and. in the Solomon Group, of Mr O. G. Meredith, eldest son of the late Mr Jlicliard Jlorodith. of Masterton. Ho vrsw 33 years of age, and .was manager of a plantation on the island, Tvhich is owned by a Masterton company. He leaves a widow and ono sisi«r. Miss G. Meredith, of Christchurch. Mr W. D. Peacock, founder of the well-known firm of jam manufacturers, died in a tr.vgic manner while playing a match on the Derwcnt bowling green, Hobart, a few days ago. As leader, he. had just sent down a ball that rested on the jack, when lie fell forward from tho mat and died. He had suffered from heart trouble for years, and was aged 74. He was an authority on improved methods of fruit culture, and marketing, and designed the standard apple case that is at present in use. Th© death occurred at Blenheim last week of Mr Gordon Vivian Harding, only son of Mr nnd Mrs R. M. Harding. The deceased was 23 years of age. Having received his education at the Blenheim Borough School he was in the service of Oouston and Co. for :x short period, and afterwards entered his father's business. The late Mr Harding was a keen volunteer Wore t.h« inception of the Territorial scheme, and on tho outbreak of war he joined up with the Main Body draft which lnft Blenheim. He served abroad during tho full period of the-war, was twice wounded on Gallipoli, and during service) in Franco he-attained to warrant rank. "Whilst convalescing in England he was a member of the first New Zealand Army Rugby team which was formed, and on his return from activo sen-ice he was prominent in local Rugby circles, representing Marlborough during the 1919 and 1920 seasons. In addition he represented Marlborough at hockey prior to the war.
