UNITED BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.
■ » The bi-monthly meeting of the United Burgesses' Association woe held last evening, Mr A. R. Blank presiding. A deputation consisting of Mis E. R. MoCombs, Mrs T. E. Taylor, and Sister Edith Walton waited on the Association in connexion with the proposed "Comfort Station." M.lB McCombe out lined the proposals of th* City Council in the matter. Mrs T. E. Taylor spoke, supporting the proposal, and stressed the urgent need of rest roans. £he also urged the need of suitable playgrounds for children in congested areas of the city. Sister Edith Walton supported the propobal and suggested that a Karitane nurse should? be in attendance to give advice to mothers when such was required. it ww decided that t'he secretary write to the Council urging that rest rooms bo established at once. a letter was received from Mr G. K. Burton, Bromley Burgeoees' Association, urging concerted action in the matter of joining Greater Christchurch. It was decided that a reply be £ent assuring Mr Burton that the Association was heartily in favour of amalgamation with the city, and was considering joint action towards that end. The matter of primary education was discussed, Mir Blank speaking on the present system and stressing the importance of adftauate grounds, buiklinga, and ventilation.
