Enquiries to-day elicited the information that tho Kaiti and Tokomarti works under tho (Jisbornefehecpfnniicrs' Co., and the Waipaoa works, of the Poverty Bay Farmers' Meat Co-, will open for tho season to-morrow, while Nelson Bros.' works at Tarahtru wiU probably commence on Thursday, or at tho latest Fri<lay. Tho Hick 3 Bay factory is not affected, a 9 it is not wadJl to commence. Tho Kaiti and Toto* maru factories would open under the conditions of the new award. Apparently tlhere is un abundance of labotB 1 available for the factories, though it ® difficult to inako nny accounting of th® osict number of butchei's, as it is lioved that a number have reawtefaj in aldvance with two or even three * the operating companies, with the afr dent idea of taking employment *i® tliat company which, offers the best, coa* ditions.
