ARBITRATION COURT.

TAXI-DRIVERS' AWARD. The award of the Court of Arbitration in the Taxi-cab Drivers' dispute lias been filed. It provides:—Hours of work: at hours to constitute- a "short week's" work, and 63 a "long week's" work; a "long week" is to includea, Sunday on. (Thei old award' provided for 60 hours and 70 hours respectively.) ' Each worker is to be entitled to have every alternate Sunday off, but may agree with his employer to work on. hia Sunday off at the I rate of la 9d per hour, payment to be made in ca«h and not in time, minimum payment I for such Sunday work not lose than 3s 6d. | Wages: £3 15s per week, plus a, bonus of 8s per week until the Court otherwise orders. (Basic wage under old award £3 10s per week, bonus 13a.) Overtime, Is 9d per hour. (Old award, Is 6d per hour.) Employees on "night shift, to receive 2s 6d .per week in addition to ordinary wage of £3 15s. Holidays : Christmas Bay- and Good Friday to be worked as Sundays. Improvers: For first three months £2 17s 6d (old award £2 12s 6d); the new rate is plus bonus of 8s per week till otherwise ordered by the Co/Urt. Duties other than driving: It shall be part of the ordinary duty of a taxi-driver under thia award to -assist at any work which may bo required of him, other than driving, for the purpose of filling in hie time. The award, which is to operate throughout the Canterbury Industrial district, comes into toroe on December 12th, 1921, and is to remain, in force until December 12th, 1923.

• The members' of the Court, his Honour Mr Justice Frazer (president), Mossra. Wm. Scott (employers' representative), and M. J. Reardon (employees' representative), leave this morning for Reefton, where the coal miners' dispute will be heard. The Court returns to Chriatchiuch on Thursday evening and at 10 a.m. on Friday will take the threshing mills' employees' dispute.
