BOXING.
NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.
A meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Council was held on Friday evening, Mr J. R. Evans presiding. The action of the executive in granting permission to the Stratford Association to match H. Gunn nad C. Obnn for the bantamweight championship was approved. Correspondence was received from the Internal Affairs Department stating :hat the Te Kuiti and Bay of Plenty Associations had been approved by the Governor-General in Council, subject to minor alterations to the rules ae mentioned by the New Zealand Boxins Council being made. The Under-Secretary of the Department el Internal Affairs wrote asking for a statement from the Council in connexion with the application from the Wiaikc-hu Afe-.ciation for registration, the Council having advised the Department that it was opposed to the application being granted. The Coiincil secretary's letter to the Department, giving particulars as to the affiliation of the Waikohu Association and the Association's views, was approved. Correspondence was received from the Christchurch Sport* Club in .reply to -correspondence from the Council concerning the payment of B. McCleary's expenses to a-nd from Auckland in cmncxion with- the visit of the New Zealand team to Sydney. The committee of the club msiintained its previous attitude thai, as McCleary was under the jurisdiction of the Ashburton Club, the latter was responsible for the liability. It wan decided that, McCleary being under the jurisdiction of the Christchurch Sports Club, that bodv was liable for the amount incurred, and the secretary was authorised to point out to the Christchurch Sports Club that the Council's decision was final on the matter. In connexion with a published ■ rrport of a meeting of the Christchurch Sports Club, at which important alterations to the constitutional rules of the club were paesed, the Council secretary was instructed to communicate with the president and the secretary of the club requesting their presenoe at the next meeting of the Council, in order to explain the action of the club. ■ ' Correspondence was received from tie Giscorne Association in reply to Council correspondence dealing with the suspension of several amateurs by the Gisborne Association. , It was decided to take no further action in the matter. The minutes of the Australasian Conference, held in Sydney on October sth and 7th, were considered. . ' " , It was decided to communicate with the other parties to the agreement the Council s opinion that, in, view #>i amateur boxing being practically nor-oxistent in Tasmania, at the present time, and as Tasmania had forfeited its right to conduct the 1922 championships, .next year's championships should beheld in Melbourne, provided that Victoria, had complied with the resolution passed at the Conference that its application for admission be forwarded to. the secretary of the New South Wales Amateur Sporte Club on or before October 7th last; that, in the event of that application not having been received, the 1922 championships be held in New Zealand in terms of the resolution agreed to on October 7th.
