BILLIARDS.

The fourth round of the Canterbury championship was played on Saturday, and there was a largo attendance at tho Y.M.C.A. Room to see the game between W. Smith and W. Karaitiana. It provided an exciting finish, Smith eventually winning by one point. Smith had a long lead at .half-way, but missed several easy slvdls towards the end, and Karaitiana actually headed him, tho scores reading 290 to 293. Karaitiana then gave a safety miss, but Smith scored off it, and. went out. The winner's best breaks were 74 and 50. The loser made two of over 40. To-night Butters plays Bickerdiko at ihe Christchurch Working Men's Club, and to-onorrow Smith plays Butters at the same dub.
