CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER. (PRESS ASSOOUnOK TBLEGBAX.) . AUCKLAND, November 4. Four Fijians—John Frank Peckham, Julian Florian, Charles McGoon, and David Lazarus —were charged to-day with the murder of a Chinese named Du Moy, as the result of a street affray. Evidence was given of a general fight, one witness being under the impression that the Fijians were the aggressors. Another witness said ho saw McGoon strike deceased. The Chinese identified .him bb the assailant. The Magistrate said there was no evidence to support a murder charge against any of the accused. The charge against McGoon was reduced to one of manslaughter, and he was committed for trial. Peckham and Lazarus were charged with assault, and were fined £6 each and costs. Florian was discharged, one witness having-said that he was too drunk to able to fight.
