Owles. . • iThe Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association asked for permission to take up a cdtobm to defray expenses in eonnexion with the •New Zealand Championships, to be held at the United courts. The request was granted. The Canterbury Aviation Co. Ltd., made application for the use of the Polo Ground in Hagley Park, to conduct aerop:ane flights on Saturday, November 12th. It waadecided to allow the company to conduct flights, but the site was left in the hand* of the chairman and the Curator. . The director oi the Royal Christchurch Musical Society asked for permission to hold a aeries of concerts in the gardens m aid of the Unemployed Fund. He stated that during the summer £IOOO should be . raised, and this would bo devoted to improving the Avon. A glance at tho river would show the great improvements possible, especially along Park terrace. A stretch of water of a uniform widtn of 60 or 60 leet could be made, and this would be an admirable place lor boating. The request to hold concerts was granted provided that the details were satisfactory to the Board. It was decided to ask for the co-operation of the police in stopping interference with anglers in Victoria Laue by loafers. A resolution was recorded in toe minutes expressing appreciation of the gilt left tor the maintenance and improvement of the Christchurch Domains by the late Mr J. Young. It was stated that the gift was worth £IOOO, giving a yearly income of £240.

It was decided that the Board should visit Hagiey Park on Tuesday, .November loth, to investigate the dying oaks.
