Mr J. D. Mitchell, of Wellington, is on a visit to Christchurch.
Mr W. J.. Jenkin, president of the Canterbury Industrial Association, returned from Wellington yesterday. At the meeting of the Navy League last night, motions of sympathy with the relatives of the late Messrs R. Leckie, J. little, and A. S. Clarkson were passed. i Mr Arthur Lilly received a cable message yesterday stating that his younger brother, Mr Leslie G. Lilly, who left New Zealand nine years ago, and served throughout the war, is shortly returning to Christchurch. MiLeslie Lilly, who went to London for business experience, enlisted at the outbreak of war, and rose to the rank of captain and adjutant in the Westminster Dragoons. Early in _ the present year he took a position with the British Imperial Oil Company at Singapore. A oouple of months ago, however, his health broke down, after an attack of fever, and he is returning; to his native land to recuperate, and eventually settle.
