AUCKLAND TO TIMARU.
EIGHT HOURS BY AIR. (FBESS ASSOCIATION TMJWBAM.) TIMARU, Noremibter 1. . IWD.H.9 aeroplane in the Auck-land-Invercargul. flight, arrived at Timaru at 5.21 this evening. The plane left Trentham at &.46 a.m., making a noiih&top flight to Christchurch, which was reached in approximately three hours. The afternoon was spent in transacting business, and Timaru was reached after about an hour's flight. The flying time from Auckland to Timaru was 8 hours 16 minutes. Tho 'plane carried a cargo of parcels arid Setters, and a Wellington morning daily was delivered for the first time in Christchurch and the South on the day of issue. Tho machine crossed Cook Strait at a height of 6000 ft. The average altitude of the flight was between 3000 and ,4000 ft. The journey is likely to be concluded to-morrow. I—ih—Mi—l——
