SLUMP IN SHIPBUILDING.
"LLOYD'S REGISTER" RETURNS. (By Cable—Pres& Association—Copyright.) (Beuter'B Telemra:-- -.; LONDON, October 31. The annual report of "Lloyd's Register" shoivs that the new tonnage classed by the Society during the year ended at June 20th decreased by 25 per cent compared with 1919-20. There had been such extensive reductions in the plans submitted to the Society in recent months <ts to indicate an unprecedented slump in new tonnage. Of the new ships 58 per cent, were fitted for oil burning. For the first time in the Society's history more oil-burning than coal-burning Eiliips had been built.
