An electric storm, accompanied by terrific wind, caused extensive damage in the city. There were many capsizes on the Swan river. One yadht, with five persons on board, attempted to make the shore when the chain ballast shifted and the boat capsized and sank. Two sisters, Dorothy Barker and Nellie Barker, and Leslie Maddocks, owner of the boat, were drowned.
