MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING.
WAED AND GO'S CLUB. Mo gars Waul and Co.'s Miniature Rifle end Social Olub held their annual smoke concert at the brewery last week. The president (Mr A. S. Duncan) occupied the chair, and among those present were Messrs W. S. Wharton and A. Tongue, and hon. secretary respectively of the Christchurcih Miniature Rifle Association. After the loyal toast had been honoured, Mr E. W. Buchanan pxoiosed the toast of "The Christchurch Miniature Rifle Association," and in resx>onding, Mr Wharton expressed the Association's appreciation of Messrs Ward and Co.'a generosity in plaoing at his Association's disposal the Kilmore street range, £ree of charge Other toasts honoured included:—"The Firm," proposed by Mr D. H. Crooks' and responded to by Mr R. Shand; "Donors of Prises," proposed' by Mr A. Dawson; "Kindred Clubs," proposed by Mr J. A. Chapman, and responded to by Messrs Pea gram (Lyttelton), Burgess (Mechanical Workers), Walker (Cashmere), J. Hawkins (Crown Brewery), H. Harries (Chriatchurch W.M. Club), and J. J. Smith (Sumner); and "The Performers," proposed by Mir J. Fitzgerald and responded to by Messrs T. Cooper and E. Crawford. During an inteival a presentation, was made to Mr L. V. Comerlord (vice-presi-dent) on behalf of the members of the -club by Mr Duncan. The presentation took the form of an enlarged photo of the club's team, which won the senior competition and Beavaa Cup. An excellent programme of musical, vocal, and elocutionary items was contributed to by Messrs P. Cole, Edwards, T. Cooper, Stewart, A. 11. L. Smith, L. V. Cotton, E. Crawford, Stan. Wright, D. Wallace, Mr Louis Bloy'a Banjo Band, and Mr J. Sprightly. Several banjo solos by Mr L. Bloy wore heaitily received. The prizes, presented by Mr Duncan, wero won as follows:—No, 1 Handicap. C. Harker 1, P. Hurcomb 2. No. 2 Handicap: E. Ward 1, R. Buchanan 2. No. 3 Handicap: R. Buchanan 1, W. Blood 2. No. 4 Handicap: J Murray 1. Senior Champiouship: J. S. Oho j man I. Junior Championship: W. Blood 1. Senior Aggregate: F. Sharman 1, J. Murray and J. A. Chapman (equal) 2, C. Brown 8, J. Fitzgerald 4, R. Buchanan 5. Junior Aggregate: W. Blood 1, O. -Oox 2. Most "Possibles" : F. Sharman and J. Murray equal |l. Mr L. A. fehand's,trophy: T. Brown 1. "Hotty Button" Competition: T. Fitzgerald and J. A. Chapman equal ,1, F. Sharman and T.- Brown equal 2.
