Budget, explained that the revenue for 1920-21 totalled £7,151,000. The deficit was'£392,ooo, and the accumulated deficit £1,440,000. The revenue for 1921-22 was estimated at £7,796,000. The Inter-State Labour Congress added an old clause to their objective, namely, the cultivation of the Australian sentiment of a White Australia and the development of a self-reliant community. The clause advocating the nationalisation of banking and the promotion of munjcipalisation of activities, was carried, 7 and also the clause advocating the representation of employees and representatives of the community, on boards to manage each industry and the establishment of Labour education institutions at which workers will be trained in the management of industries. v FORTY-FOUR HOUR WEEK. SYDNEY, October 14. Mr Justice Beeby, in the Special Court, -declined to extend the forty-four-hour a week principle to . the-rail-way service on account of the increase in cost involved which would inevitably lead to increased fares and freights.
