Budget, explained that the revenue for 1920-21 totalled £7,151,000. The deficit was'£392,ooo, and the accumulated deficit £1,440,000. The revenue for 1921-22 was estimated at £7,796,000. WOMEN AND LEAGUE OF NATION'S. SYDNEY, October 14. The Women's Citizens' Association of New South Wales has decided to urge that a representative of ■ the women of .Australia should' be appointed to' the League of Nations. PRICE OP MILK. SYDNEY, October 14. The Profiteering Court has reduced the price of milk from 9d to B|d per quart. LABOUB CONGRESS. BRISBANE, October 14. The Inter-State Labour Congress added an old clause to their objective, namely, the cultivation of the Australian sentiment of a White Australia and the development of a self-reliant community. The clause advocating the nationalisation of banking and the promotion of munjcipalisation of activities, was carried, 7 and also the clause advocating the representation of employees and representatives of the community, on boards to manage each industry and the establishment of Labour education institutions at which workers will be trained in the management of industries. v FORTY-FOUR HOUR WEEK. SYDNEY, October 14. Mr Justice Beeby, in the Special Court, -declined to extend the forty-four-hour a week principle to . the-rail-way service on account of the increase in cost involved which would inevitably lead to increased fares and freights.
