Commissioner cf Samoon Crown Estates will receive Tenders up to th® Sist DECEIIBER, 1921, for Leasing certain Plantation Properties situated is Britieii Western Samoa, as under: Applications to lease are limited to Samoans and British subjects. The period of lease will be ten years, with the right of renewal for a further period ci fiveyears at a revaluation. Tne eetates are to be taken over in their present condition, and are to be properly worked. Cases of dispute as to the state a plantation to be settled by arbitration —», one arbitrator to be appointed by each of the two. parties to the lease, and one selected by the two arbitrators so appointed. Permanent improvements as defined or approved by the Commissioner will be assessed and paid for by the lessors at the expiration of the lease. Existing buildings will be maintained by the lessee in good order and condition and handed back in a similar condition, less fair wear-ar.d-tear, at the expiration of the lease. The lessee is not to transfer, assign, or otherwise dispose of the lease, except with the consent of the Commissioner. Working horses, mules, donkeys, and cattle now running on the estates are not included in the effects of the estate for leasing, but can be made the subject for special arTang®ment for leafing or purchase. The highest or any tender for lease will not necessarily be accepted. The accepted applicant must find sureties or guarantees. MALAEFONO: —Small cocoa estate with portion interplanted with coconuts; about 13 miles from Apia and about J-mile from coast; total area, 207 acres, of which 165 acres in bearing. Should produce annually 20 tons cocoa and 20 tons copra. Good dwelling and outhouses, labour-house, store and cart-sheds, also Gordon coooa dryer with engine in good running order. FALEALILI: —On south coast, about 12 hours by motor-boat from Apia; total area about 655 acres, of which about 200 acres are palms in bearing, remainder being bush. Estate is in three portions—27o acres at Goa Goa, 200 acres at Mata'a, 180 acres at Viaula. 64 cattle, 6 horses, and a mule now running on place; trading-station with stores for produce at Goa Goa are now leased to a trading firm; plantation manager now lives above this store. There is good furnace copra-drier, two labour houses, also wliale-boat for produce-shipping. Insurance value whole of buildings, £1960. No. 9.. LATA, SAVAII:-About 4 miles inland from coast village of Salailau, Savau; total area about 12.320 acres, of which about 400 acre# are under coconuts; area in bearing about 200 acres. There are a large number of misses and old trees in the remaining 200 acres. At Ave Ave, on coast, there are about 15 acres of irregular-planted palms. 40 cattle 7 sheep, 5 horses, and 8 mules are on plaoe"; it would cany 200 cattle. LATA, SALAILAU, SAVAII:—A trading-station at Salailau. on the coast in connexion with Lata plantatiofi; main building is two-storied, with store rooms on the ground floor, well fitted up store on first floor, and dwelling - portion on the second floor. Large yard with copra-sheds adjacent to main building, whole enclosed with post and wire fencing.
