The North Beach. Burgeeaes' Association met on Thursday, Mr A. 11.. Blank presiding. The druinage question was discussed and u deputation consisting of Messrs. Blank, Scrub, Curtis, Slater, and Whatman was appointed to wait on Dr Telford and protest against tho notices that . had Been served on residents- to put in. drainage sumps and to utg« that draining into tne concrete side channels was the only solution of the problem, 'l'he matter of tuu wire netting road ut the lfsplanaae to enable motors to get to the mouth of tho Waimakariri river Hp the beach was -remarked upon. and. the secretary was congratulated in his efforts to carry out this work. It was resolved to bring this innovation under the iiotioe lof motorists. It was resolved ,to write to the council ; of t)ie. Burgesses' Association supporting the project to establish • rest iooms in the city. The matter of lucerno growing in the reserves was gone into, «.nd. it was decided that the secretary approach the Lucerne Committee and aslt their assistance in the matter.- It was decided to write to tire Postmaster-General ulso the member for tho district, urging llr.it a 6lct telephone should- be installed at the Ascot .store. " It wag decided to write, to the Chief Postmaster urying an extension of the afternoon delivery of letters to the roaded area of North Beach. The matter of ihc proportion, of the £SOOO loan from the Government and the quota to be spent u' North Beach was discussed. It was decided, to write to the Council urging the claims 'of the district to a fair proportion of the loan. The matter of the leasing of the North Beach reserve was gone into and it was decided to urge the Council not to lease the reserve in future. It was decided to vote 10s 6d to the funds of the Surf Club and to than It them for the "use of their building for meetings. It was decided to write to Mir Leckie sympathising with *in his reoeht indisposition and the best wishes of the association for his rapid restoration to health. i = '
