BROMLEY BUS.
AN UNTfiOriTaBLE SERVICE.
I The Bromley 'bus service put on to meot the convenience of those wishing to visit the Bromley Cemetery resulted in a loss of £139 for the period from January to August last. Half of this loss is met by the Tramway Board and half by the City Counoil. The Board have enquired , ; >from the Council whether, in vie» of the financial position disclosed, wie service should bo continued. The Finance Committee of the Counoil considered the matter, and recommended to the meeting last night that the service should be discontinued. Or. F. R. Cooke moved that full information bo procured from the Tramway Board for submission to the CouncU. ' •' ! Cr. H. E. Herbert eaid it was the duty of the Council to give transport to. tho cemetery. The Tramway Board snared the cost of the servioo really as lan act of grace. Cr. McCombs said it was necessary to know how many people used the r bus service.
The Deputy-Mayor (Or. -J..- 'A. Fledher) said the main charges were standing charges, and went on whether the 'bus ran or not. The committee would bo prepared to reconsider the clause and give the information aakeo! fan at the next meeting. The clause was held' over till next meeting:
