BREWERY TAXATION CASE.
APPEAL TO PBIVY COUNCIL. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) "WELLINGTON, September 23. The Court of Appeal this morning granted final leave to appeal to the Privy Council in 'the case of Ward and Co., Ltd., brewers, of Christchurch, v. the Commissioner of Taxes. Ward and Co. had claimed exemption from income tax of money spent by the company m opposing prohibition, and the Appeal Court nad given judgment in favour of the Commissioner of Taxes. Mr P. B. Cooke appeared in support of the motion, and Sir W. C. Macgregor, K.C., for the Commissioner of Taxes.
