REFORM PARTY.
APPRECIATION OF SIR FRANCIS BELL'S WORK. (PEESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAJt.) WELLINGTON, September 23. A meeting of the Reform members of tho Houso to-day discussed the work ot the session with Sir Francis Bell (Act-ing-Prime Minister) and tne Hon. D. H. Guthrie (Acting-Leader of the House). The official report states that Sir Francis Bell gzvo an outline of the matters which had been under the Government's consideration during Mr Master's absence, and also gave some details of the proposals to be suhmittcd to tho House in the current session. Several members expresed appreciation of the mnnner in which the Government, and especially, Sir Francis Bell, had cond'ieted the* country's affairs during Mr Massey : s absence, and the ability shown by the Acting-Prime Minister in dealing with the important mat-' tors that had arisen during that period. A motion of appreciation of Sir Francis Bell's work was carried by acclamation. Mr Guthrie explained the position lie found himself in, and asked the hearty co-operation of the party in canying on till Mr Maesey's return. He went fully into tho circumstances necessitating the recent railwav cut, tbo meeting regarding the explanation as satisfactory. Mr Guthrie outlined the business to como .mder tho immediate attention of Parliament, and said th<> preparation of legislation was so well advanced that there would be no difficulty in keeping Parliament fully occupied.
