The farmers' conference passed a resolution in favour of a division of the present unwieldy States into areas, and dispensing with the present expensive and non-effioient system of State Goverments. It also passed a resolution against making the High Commissionership a refuge for worn-out politicians. FLOODS IN NEW SOUTH WALES. . , SYDNEY, August 12. Large areas are still flooded in the western river country. It is estimated that 100,000 sheep are marooned along the Barwon. Some of the flocks have .been fed for weeks per. medium of aeroplanes. The hotelkeepera are organising a stand against the brewers extending the tied house system to the wine and spirit trade. It is stated that 75 per cent, of the hotels in the State are tied. Nmß.
