Mr C. A. McCoy, who has been on a business visit to Dunedin, has returned to Christchurch. The Rev. Dr. R. Erwin was extended a hearty welcome on his return to the Christchurch Presbytery yesterday after his severe illness. Mr H. J. Ryburn, a recently appointed Rhodes Scholar, left Christchurch on Tuesday on his way to England, where he will continued his studies at Cambridge. A Wellington telegram states that Mr H. W. Laver, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, at Wellington, has been appointed acting-inspector, in place of the late Mr B. M. Molineaux. Mr A. J. McKay, assistant-inspector, has been appointed acting-manager at Wellington. Mr S. F. Richardson, locomotive engineer, New Zealand Railways, for HuruDui-Bluff section, and Mr J. F. Mackley, locomotive engineer for Westland and Westport Bections, who have been attending a conference of railway engineers at Wellington, reached Christchurch yesterday. Mr Mackley leaves for Greyraouth this morning. At yesterday's meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery, motions of sympathy were passed, with the relatives of the late Rev. G. B. Munro and Mr T. D. Boag. Mr Boag had been for many years connected with St. Andrew s Church. Mr" Munro had been stationed at Remuera'for 40_yeare, and waß one of the church's senior ministers. Mr Oscar Lines, chief inspector of the Bank of New South Wales, has been appointed by the board general manager of the bank as from the commencement of the present month, in succession to the late Sir John Russell French. Mr C. G. Alford, who was appointed acting-general manager, following the death of Sir John Russell French, and whose retirement .was to have taken place on the dny (June 30th) his chief died, now retires. Mr Lines assumed control last week.
